My Latest Works

The portrait of Tori and Kayla was a gift from a client to her best friend. She requested that I do just the dogs' faces along with butterflies and dragonflies. She loved it and so did her friend. The portrait of Peppy was a gift from a daughter to her dad.

If you are interested in a pet portrait or memorial for a gift or for yourself, please drop me a line at claudiabarber@lycos.com.

Holiday Gifts
Are You Ready??

The Holidays will be here sooner than you think. Pet portraits, residential signs, and other plaques and signs make GREAT and unique holiday gifts for family and friends. You can order up until December 12, 2008 and have the gift delivered in time for the holidays. Contact me by e-mail for more information and to get started.

Now at Craftique
There are several Halloween signs up at Craftique right now. There are also some Thanksgiving plaques. I have included a few pictures below.

A Unique Gift!

A truly unique gift for you or someone special! I also do pet portraits and memorials. In addition, I can put any picture or design on your plaque, even Fred Sanford (a customer request for a special gift). Just let me know (by mail or e-mail) what you want on the plaque and what size and I'll take it from there.

E-mail your favorite photo of your pet or anything else you like and the name or any other saying you want to claudiabarber@lycos.com and I will create a wood-burned plaque or portrait of your pet. These make beautiful, personal gifts for your family and friends.

Please note: These signs and plaques work best if hung indoors. They can be hung on your front door if you have a screen door or covered porch. If the sign is exposed to direct sunlight, the burning will fade.

About the Art

I formed my love of art as a child, using burned out matches to create drawings. A few years ago, someone mentioned woodburning and I thought I'd give it a try. I quickly got hooked! Pyrography, Greek for "fire drawing," is an art form that dates back to ancient cave dwellings. It is the art of burning images on a variety of mediums, such as wood, leather and paper. In Victorian times, a hot fire poker was used for the burning, giving it the name Pokerwork. The tools for doing Pyrography have advanced through the agesinstead of using heated sticks or fireplace pokers, most people now use electrically heated tools.
